The Harvey Farm

Dan and Louise Harvey

The Harvey Farm, also known as Applehurst Farm, was home to Dan and Louise Harvey, who spent their lives working the land, raising their family, and quietly helping out where they could.

Louise started out in Fremont, where she raised thousands of chickens before moving to Epping with Dan. Together, they ran a dairy farm, kept big gardens, and raised a house full of kids. She somehow managed to do it all while making sure there was always an extra plate at the table for anyone who needed one.

Dan spent his life farming but had a strong interest in flying, which started when he joined the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. He eventually owned a couple of small planes and even built an airstrip on Red Oak Hill. He was also involved in conserving Kennard Hill Forest, making sure some of the land stayed as it was for future generations.

They never made a fuss about the work they did or the people they helped—it was just part of life. Applehurst Farm was always a place where things got done, and Dan and Louise kept at it the way they always had.

We’re glad to keep sharing the land for celebrations, camping, hiking, and community, just like Dan and Louise always did. Their hard work and generosity made this place special, and we’re proud to carry that on.
